Monday check in (on a Tuesday because I can)

Obsessing over Apple TV. So many endorphins running through me over this tiny little black box.

Working on building my business. Some big decisions have been made over the last year: one being that working a traditional day job is not for me.

Thinking about lucrative opportunities and endless possibilities.

Anticipating hanging my giant Tom Waits poster. The Treehouse just won’t be complete until he’s up.

Listening to The Super Friendz.

Drinking Coffee. Good old reliable Tim Hortons.

Wishing for the feeling of wind in my face during this upward spiral to continue.

And, then there’s this: Life is simply an act of balance (according to E).

Monday Check in

Obsessing over how to arrange our things in the apartment that E and I have leased starting January 5th! Picture this: floor to ceiling windows, pine floors, on the main street of a quaint town with a playground, splash pad, ice rink, farmers market and forest for a back yard. Bored? Let’s just go to the town library, which is RIGHT NEXT DOOR. Thirsty? How about the local cafe steps away. Bliss. 

Working on the continuous wrapping up of things, and I’m not talking about presents. 

Thinking about whether E would prefer a wooden doll house or a teepee for Christmas. She tells me she wants a princess. Not a doll. A princess. A real one in a purple dress. I don’t know what to do. 

Anticipating Christmas. Trying my best to make it as warm as possible for E during cold times. 

Listening to the sound of the television leaking down the stairs to my office. 

Drinking 3/4 sparkling water; 1/4 cranberry juice. Kicking this flu (20 days of sickness) right out of my system for good.  

Wishing for the sense of peace that I’ve found lately to continue with me on my journey. At least for a little while.

Obsessing over nothing in particular currently. 

Working on wrapping things up. It’s a continuous task.  

Thinking about this past weekend away with six spectacular mama’s in a spectacular setting. 

Anticipating crafts, baking, pumpkin carving, costume making. Halloween, yesiree. 

Listening to Neil Young. Harvest. Classic. Perfect. 

Drinking delicious, addiction-satisfying coffee. On my second cup. Thinking of a third. 

Wishing for motivation, and lots of it!

Monday check in

Obsessing over various social media. It’s my lifeline right now. Also obsessing over real estate (forever obsessing over that). 

Working on all kinds of big, exciting, life changing things. Nothing small going on here, you guys. No way, no how. 

Thinking about Everleigh’s second full week of Montessori. She’s doing well. But she broke down today. There were tears today. They were the kind of tears you hold in all day until you see somebody you love. It broke my heart and I squeezed her a little tighter in that miniature boot room as guilt invaded my heart. But, what am I to do? I’m doing my best. 

Anticipating the sale of my house.

Listening to sweet silence with the exception of my fingers typing on this keyboard. 

Drinking water. Just the pure stuff tonight. 

Wishing for uninterrupted sleep.

Obsessing over Breaking Bad.

Working on the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

Thinking about my to-do list. It’s growing as fast as it’s shrinking (make sense?)

Anticipating (bracing for) the big move.

Listening to the clock.

Drinking a vanilla latte from The Bandit (likely one of my last).

Wishing for a clean and relatively easy transition. New life, here we come!

*Note: this may well be the most evasive Monday check in ever, but that’s just how I be these days. Here goes:

Obsessing over real estate. 

Working on buttoning things up. 

Thinking about what I’ll be doing next Wednesday, at around noon. 

Anticipating Thursday, when another mom friend and I are going to play hooky and blow off some pent up steam.

Drinking nothing at the moment. I wish I was. 

Wishing for disgustingly greasy food. Poutine or pizza or some other “P” food. 

Monday check in

Obsessing over banners and cupcakes and bouncy things, oh my. It’s Everleigh’s 3rd birthday next Monday (yes, that’s right) and we’re having her party this Sunday afternoon. I will be a mother to a three year old—a sassy, spunky, loveable little three year old. Say what? 

Working on exit plans from a number of life items I desperately need to slough away like dead skin. 

Thinking about wine. Because why bloody not? 

Anticipating the weekend. Did I mention I’ll have a three year old? When did that happen? Seriously, when?

Drinking water. A fine chaser to the Big Bullocks: Pimm’s Cup + Lemon + Pure Cane Sugar + Soda + Cucumber Foam that I had at Swish by Han earlier this evening. 

Wishing for great weather this weekend. Let the birthday festivities begin. Did I mention she will be three? 

(Holiday) Monday check in

Obsessing over my new Ray Bans. The perfect pair to replace my trusty wayfarers that I lost last week. 

Working on time management. I have about a weeks’ worth of work to complete tomorrow. Yikes.

Thinking about the heat, and about how quickly it arrived. What a perfect Victoria Day long weekend in Toronto filled with lazy mornings, brunches and playground visits.

Anticipating bedtime (mine).

Listening to the echo of fireworks as they snap, crackle and pop down by the lake.

Drinking water.

Wishing for a short-lived cold/flu. I caught a nasty bug on Thursday. So far, no such luck…

Obsessing over the perfect flower girl shoes.

Working on pausing to think before reacting.

Thinking about the fact that I still have work to do. Thinking hard about doing it, and also about how I probably won’t.

Anticipating a snack, a sofa, pajamas and at least 30 minutes of bad tv.

Listening to Everleigh “singing” at the top of her lungs from bed in an attempt to get my attention. It’s working, but I’ll never let her know!

Drinking 3/4 sparking water, 1/4 blueberry and pomegranate juice.
